The Poem I Will Never Write for You
by
Juliet D. Peters
On that day you never knew
that I came to you
full of gratitude.
On that day you never knew
that I went to the bathroom
to wipe hiding tears and pray for you.
On that day you never knew
the charges and insults you threw—
none of which were true—
deeply penetrated into this heart that loves you.
On that day you never knew
that girl number three, dash, four, dash, two—
the one you wouldn’t tell me about—
that she is what became
between me and you…
I miss you—
this poem I will never write for you.
