in the beginning
two cells
the distance for one to travel, immense!
He knows…
could this Adam and Eve please stop fighting?
could they stop being so busy?
aren’t they willing to close the gap?
it must have seemed like thousands of miles
but the other cell waited patiently
in warmth, in the dark, prepared for the most intimate connection with life-giving blood
–
the beginning
two cells meet
against all forces
with millions of other choices
only one is allowed to pass
with entrance, the soul ignites!
He smiles at His beloved…
already a daughter, a son
definitely human
–
beginning
multiplication with so many possibilities for error
the manifestation increases
exponential growth
matches made
complete
complete
complete
what a masterpiece!
–
in the darkness
no eyes could see
i am a person
what else would i be?
–
maybe not perfect
but everybody
needs a beginning,
is a person,
has dignity
–
you exist, and that is good
you are loved
what could be better?

This is in response to the people who have made my poem, I am a good person (poem), the most read poem on this blog. I have a feeling that people were looking for something else every time they used search terms and found “I am a good person” by yours truly. They may have been disappointed since that poem was about the phrase “I am good person” people use, which sometimes is used as an excuse to continue hurting others. However, I know there are people out there who are despairing and do not recognize their inherent dignity as a person as well as the inherent dignity of others, so I thought I would add this poem to be in that family of poems.
Let me know what you think…
God bless!
