chances (poem)

what are the chances the you would say something that catches my eye?

what are the chances that i would be on the computer at that time?

what are the chances that i would think about your name?

what are the chances i would write something to you?

what are the chances you would reply?

what are the chances we would speak the same language?

what are the chances we would understand each other?

what are the chances the i would be me and you would be you?

what are the chances we would respect one another?

what are the chances given our dissimilar backgrounds, our separate continental locations over oceans and land, the number of people on the earth, the number of minutes in a day, the many times i am not connected, the many moments you are not connected, the many names i pass by, the number of things that don’t interest me, the few things i can concentrate on at one moment, the other things i could be doing, the high probability that one of us could have been aborted, but…

no, that didn’t happen…

other things did…

what are the chances that i would meet you?

what are the chances that this could happen?

this was not chance to me–

connection–

it doesn’t always happen–

but it involves more than one person–

and the connection of two with so many potentialities and choices–

chance?

coincidence?

or something else?

why me?

why you?

whoooh…

this is just awesome to me:)

God, thank you!

About lamehousewife

poetry, articles, thoughts, and quotes... on a quest to be authentic in my motherhood, sisterhood, and daughterhood, but i can tend to become Juvenalian sometimes, maybe in writing but also in life, reading Swift's "A Modest Proposal" as if i were hearing a friend speak to me about the how ridiculous some ideas can become, especially when they begin to drift into reality, mocking all of us really... i identify with Mary Magdalene, James, and Peter and am extremely grateful for that woman who said, "Yes!"...oh and i can be pretty lame...blessings to you, dear reader...pray for a single mother, her children, and the father of her children today!
