Mother (poem/collage)

Mother
see how this Child
looks at you
with trust
with wonder
your hand holds Him secure
His hand on yours
you teach Him words
He teaches you
but His gaze
His gaze is on you
What a beautiful mother, created!
Mother,
I see how this Child
looks at you.
*Image found on googleimages under “Madonna and Child reading.” I was actually looking for another picture in which the Child Jesus has His hand resting on Mary’s, her hand resting on what I see as Scripture, but His gaze is on her as if He is listening attentively to everything she says and does just as young children often do. It is a striking picture.

About lamehousewife

poetry, articles, thoughts, and quotes... on a quest to be authentic in my motherhood, sisterhood, and daughterhood, but i can tend to become Juvenalian sometimes, maybe in writing but also in life, reading Swift's "A Modest Proposal" as if i were hearing a friend speak to me about the how ridiculous some ideas can become, especially when they begin to drift into reality, mocking all of us really... i identify with Mary Magdalene, James, and Peter and am extremely grateful for that woman who said, "Yes!"...oh and i can be pretty lame...blessings to you, dear reader...pray for a single mother, her children, and the father of her children today!

It is a beautiful image — and poem. I don’t think I’ve seen this one before. The gazes are the first thing that catches you in this picture. Per Mariam ad Iesum!
