Meet Jesus Where He Is At…(quote)

Jesus wants to tell you again and again how much is the love He has for each of you. I worry that some of you still have not really met Jesus one to one, you and Jesus alone, not from books but from being with Him in your heart.

poetry, articles, thoughts, and quotes... on a quest to be authentic in my motherhood, sisterhood, and daughterhood, but i can tend to become Juvenalian sometimes, maybe in writing but also in life, reading Swift's "A Modest Proposal" as if i were hearing a friend speak to me about the how ridiculous some ideas can become, especially when they begin to drift into reality, mocking all of us really... i identify with Mary Magdalene, James, and Peter and am extremely grateful for that woman who said, "Yes!"...oh and i can be pretty lame...blessings to you, dear reader...pray for a single mother, her children, and the father of her children today!

  1. LH, I don’t think I’ve told you before but I really like that you post quotes from Mother Teresa. Thanks.

i have met with Jesus as much as i can here on earth, and i have heard him speak and felt his touch, but i get very confused when i see my brother in his pain and tremors, tears and depression and realize his father emotionally abused him since a youth, and also he is mentally challenged, and for these reasons, i can not figure out why god does not heal him for here on earth or take him home. it breaks my heart to see others suffer with cancers or disabilities, and i never understand what god’s purpose could possibly be keeping them this way. my brother is very hard to teach anything to. he clings to his bible, because he remembers god is good, but he also is( wondering why god is leaving him in pain), and these are his words here, not mine. i love the lord, but i know i should be more committed than what i am, and yet i fear him in a respectful way and want to go to heaven and try hard to live the way god wishes me too, but every once in a while, that dark thought enters my mind

    • Here is a link to the Christian Meaning of Human Suffering. I hope that it helps…It is beautiful!

i read it and i find myself going back to what i remember, that suffering comes from our sins. i believe that you are catholic? or it seemed this way from the reading, which was interesting and confusing to me at the same time. if Al is suffering this disease from a sin he has committed, then how does he rid the sin, when he probably doesn’t remember it. i read and will admit i have troubles with understanding it, except the parts we suffer from our sins. i feel really ignorant at this point, because if it were me instead of Al, then i would know why i am being punished or suffering from this or that, but mentally challenged,,,,,i don’t understand, sorry, i am so sorry, i just don’t get it

      • Suffering is a result of sin in general, not personal sin necessarily. With the Fall of Adam and Eve, sin entered the world and with it suffering in many forms–the world of people is in a sort of shipwreck. We can admit that we are sinners, right? That we are in this shipwreck together?
Now the personal suffering that one gets does not mean it came from a personal sin. Our greatest example of this is Jesus Himself–totally innocent! He suffered tremendously though He never sinned. But He turned that suffering into our Redemption! We are washed clean with His Baptism (the beginning of the journey with Him), but He also asks us to walk the same path to Calvary with Him, to carry our crosses with Him. So, though we were guilty by sin, we become clean in Baptism, and then we have to take the next step. Though we suffer, we gain eternal life with Jesus Christ our Lord in carrying that cross with Him! Suffering is an opportunity to share in the Cross with Jesus. His grace pours forth more splendidly when we are weak. We need no longer despair because at the end of this part of the climb, Christ has won us peace, and He will carry us every inch of the way to get there with Him!
The world tries to avoid suffering in various forms of comfort sins, like sex, addictions, killing, and other abuses. Jesus tells us that we need no longer run the wrong direction when we hurt. We can rely on Him to help us through.
Have you seen that poem called Footprints? This is a wonderful way to look at it…Suffering seems awful, but He has come closer to you than you may realize because of that suffering.
I will continue to keep you in my prayers, Terry. I know that what you are dealing with is extremely heavy and painful, but I can also see in your writing that grace is working powerfully through you…
        God bless!

i understand so well when u mention footsteps, and now i understand most of what you said. i always felt so fortunate that i have god to forgive me of my sins, just so thankful, then i look at Al who doesn’t understand hardly anything in life and my heart breaks. i know he is forgiven for his sins because has god living inside of him, i just hate seeing him suffer

I appreciate your thoughts...
